Florida Heritage Award Honorees Announced

Secretary of State Kurt S. Browning announced the 2010 Florida Heritage Award winners on March 24, 2010, in the R. A. Gray Building at 500 South Bronough Street, Tallahassee, Florida. The awards ceremony was part of a month-long celebration from March 15 to April 15 to honor Floridians who have made contributions to the state in historic preservation, writing, folk heritage, public service, the arts, and entertainment.

“It gives me great pleasure to have been a part of the Department of State’s Heritage Month celebration,” said Secretary of State Browning. “I am honored to join Governor Crist in honoring Floridians who have contributed so much to our state.”

The guest speakers at the awards ceremony were Secretary Browning and Governor Crist. Frank Jameson of the Friends of the Museums of Florida History was the master of ceremonies.

The Divisions of Library and Information Services, Cultural Affairs, and Historical Resources joined together in making these recognitions of some of Florida’s finest and most talented citizens.
