Secretary Browning Announces the Department of State's Recipients of This Year's Davis Productivity Awards

Secretary of State Kurt S. Browning is proud to announce the Department of State's recipients of the 2006 Davis Productivity Awards. This year's winners include eight from the Department of State. The Davis Productivity Award recognizes and rewards state government employees whose work significantly and measurably increases productivity, promotes innovation to improve the delivery of state services, and saves money for Florida taxpayers and businesses.

"I am not at all surprised at the outstanding accomplishments of these Department of State winners,” said Secretary Browning. "Their innovative ideas have simplified work processes, saved money and improved how we directly serve the citizens of Florida. They have set an incredible example for us all.”

Dave Dickel, Division of Historical Resources, will receive a ‘Notable’ award in the amount of $250 for developing a computerized system for accessing state archaeological data.

The Archaeological Resource Management Training Program Team will receive a plaque for increasing protection of archaeological sites through monitor training. Members of the winning team are:

The Florida Underwater Archaeology Team will receive a certificate for developing the 1733 Galleon Trail Heritage Tourism Project, which features Spanish shipwrecks sunk during a hurricane in the Florida Keys. Members of the winning team are:

  • Debra Shefi, Senior Archaeologist
  • Helene Whitehurst, Program Coordinator

Debbie Lollie, Office of Support Services, will receive a certificate for her efforts in reducing the cost associated with telephone accounts.

The State Archives Florida Memory Program Team will receive a certificate for recovering from magnetic audiotapes a series of folk life performances that have not been heard since they were originally recorded in 1956. Members of the winning team are:

The Florida Voter Registration System Development Team will receive a certificate for creating and implementing a single, uniform, official, centralized, interactive computerized statewide voter registration system. Members of the winning team are:

The Division of Corporations will receive a plaque for creating government service “at the speed of thought.” The Division made electronic document processing available to the public for use in their offices or homes, 24/7.

Dave Mann, former Assistant Secretary of State, will receive a PRIDE Eagle trophy for 20 or more years of state service with a history of exceptional performance.
